Uprite Services ranks first among Clear Lake and Bay Area IT support companies for 2026, scoring 9.1 on our Bay Area Fit Score for seven straight years of MSP 501 recognition, published per-user pricing, and documented CMMC and HIPAA work. Layer Logix scores 6.7 and leads on verified reviews. Cyber One Solutions scores 6.6 from an office on NASA Parkway.
Seven providers that actively sell into Clear Lake, Webster, Nassau Bay, League City and the rest of the Bay Area. Scores run on 7 weighted criteria built around what a firm on this side of the water actually gets stuck on, including whether anybody can physically reach a second site. Google Maps data was scraped live on 2 September 2026. Clutch figures were read off the live profile pages the same day.
Quick picks
- Best overall. Uprite Services, for firms carrying contract clauses, patient records or a second site
- Best for NASA and defense subcontract work. Mako Logics, for CMMC Level 2 and ITAR depth
- Best local office. Cyber One Solutions, headquartered on East NASA Parkway
- Best for lean teams under 15 seats. CMIT Solutions of Clear Lake, a franchise office with a named local owner
Search for the best IT support in Clear Lake TX and you get a strange result. Most of the companies bidding for the work are not here. Not even close.
Three of the seven providers on this page hold a verified street address inside the Bay Area footprint. Three. One sits in League City. The other two run their entire operation out of Montgomery County, more than 50 miles north, and reach this market through a service-area page.
That matters more here than it would in west Houston. A 40-person firm off NASA Parkway is almost never on one site. There is the office, a shop or a lab across the water, and two or three people sitting inside a customer facility on equipment they are not allowed to take home, which is the sort of arrangement that nobody designs and everybody ends up with. We wrote about the shape of that problem on our managed IT services in Clear Lake and Webster page.
So this ranking weighs physical reach heavily. It also weighs whether a provider has ever done the compliance work that Bay Area contracts hand down, and whether anyone will say a number out loud before a sales call. Seven providers. Seven scores. Every figure below is checkable. So check them.

How the Bay Area Fit Score works
We scored 7 providers on 7 weighted criteria, using Google Maps data scraped live on 2 September 2026 and Clutch profiles read the same day. No provider paid for placement. No provider submitted their own numbers.
| Criterion | Weight | What it measures |
|---|---|---|
| Verified Review Score | 30% | Clutch rating and volume (50% of this factor), Google Maps rating and volume (40%), Cloudtango listing (10%). Rating counts for 60% of each platform score, volume for 40%, on a log scale |
| Bay Area Presence and Onsite Reach | 20% | A verified street address inside the Bay Area footprint, a Google Business Profile carrying that address, named local staff, stated onsite dispatch |
| Contract and Regulatory Depth | 15% | Named frameworks with documentation behind them. FAR 52.204-21, NIST SP 800-171, CMMC, ITAR, HIPAA, SOC 2, the FTC Safeguards Rule |
| Industry Awards and Recognition | 15% | Channel Futures MSP 501, CRN MSP 500 and Pioneer 250, Cloudtango MSP Select, MSSP Alert 250, Inc. 5000 |
| Years in Business and Bench Depth | 10% | Founding year triangulated across the provider site, Clutch and third-party directories, plus headcount and named leadership |
| Pricing Transparency | 5% | Published per-user rates or ranges a buyer can reach without booking a call |
| Service Breadth and Documentation Depth | 5% | Range of services judged by how deeply each one is documented, not by bullet count |
Two of those weights are unusual, and honesty requires saying so on a page we publish ourselves.
Physical presence normally carries 10% in a model like this. Here it carries 20%, because the Bay Area is stitched around a lake and a ship channel and a drive that looks like 8 miles on the map can comfortably eat 40 minutes. That change costs us. We score 8 on it. Two providers score higher. That same geography shapes who you can hire, not just who can reach you, which is the argument behind our look at what 2026 hiring data says about in-house IT in Bay Area Houston.
Pricing transparency is a criterion most lists like this do not have at all. We added it at 5%, small enough that it cannot decide the ranking on its own, because a buyer who cannot get a number before a discovery call is being managed rather than served.
One more disclosure, about our own review data. We run two Google Business Profiles in this metro. A 4.8 across 60 reviews at the Houston office, and a 4.3 across 12 at our Space Center Boulevard location in Clear Lake. Both are counted. Volume weighted, that comes out at 4.7 across 72 reviews. Using the Houston profile on its own would have scored us higher, and it would also have been a cheat, so the weaker number stays in.
A provider with no Clutch profile takes a real penalty. Half the Clutch weight moves to Google and the other half is simply lost. Building a record of phone-interviewed client reviews takes effort, and not having one is a signal, so the model treats it as one. Four of the seven providers here take that hit, and it is applied identically to all of them.
The seven providers at a glance
| Rank | Provider | Bay Area Fit Score | Clutch | Verified Bay Area address | Best for | Worth knowing | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Uprite Services | 9.1 | 4.8 (60) and 4.3 (12) | 5.0 (11) | Yes, Space Center Blvd 77058 | 15 to 200 seats with contract or HIPAA exposure | Delivery bench runs from the Houston office, not Clear Lake |
| 2 | Layer Logix | 6.7 | 5.0 (30) | 5.0 (20) | No, The Woodlands | Small teams wanting senior engineers on the account | 2 to 9 employees per Clutch, 55 miles up I-45 |
| 3 | Cyber One Solutions | 6.6 | 4.9 (48) | None | Yes, 1110 E NASA Pkwy | An office that wants its provider on the same street | No named industry award found anywhere |
| 4 | Mako Logics | 6.0 | 5.0 (11) | None | No, Montgomery | Aerospace and defense subcontractors needing CMMC and ITAR | Headquarters is roughly 65 miles north |
| 5 | BroCoTec | 5.6 | 5.0 (33) | Profile, 0 reviews | Yes, 1100 E NASA Pkwy | Marine, energy and engineering firms wanting a neighbour | Not one compliance framework named on the site |
| 6 | CMIT Solutions of Clear Lake | 5.4 | 5.0 (4) | None | Yes, League City | A first managed IT contract under 15 seats | 4 Google reviews since the office opened in 2020 |
| 7 | BAYCNS | 4.6 | 5.0 (4) | None | Service area, La Porte | Very small offices wanting one familiar person | Service mix still includes residential and home theatre work |
Ranks 2 and 3 sit 0.1 apart, and they are opposite kinds of company. Layer Logix wins on verified reviews from 55 miles away. Cyber One wins on being here. Flip them depending on how often you need somebody through the door.

The 7 best IT support companies in Clear Lake and the Bay Area
1. Uprite Services, the one that shows you the price first
We are the only provider on this page publishing what we charge, and the only one holding a current placement on a national MSP ranking. Both take about two minutes to verify, which is deliberate, because a buyer who has to book a discovery call before finding out whether a provider is even in the right price band has already lost an afternoon to a sales process rather than to a decision.
Bay Area Fit Score 9.1 out of 10
Key strengths
- Seventh consecutive year on the Channel Futures MSP 501, ranked No. 264 for 2026. No other provider on this page holds a current placement on any national list we could verify.
- $91, $110 and $138. Those are our IT Essentials, IT Pro and Fully Managed rates per user per month, printed on the site rather than saved for a call, with no seat minimum attached. Compare them in the Texas managed IT pricing breakdown.
- A Bay Area address that is an actual address. 16441 Space Center Boulevard, Suite B-1, with its own Google Business Profile and its own phone line. Not a mail drop, and not a checkbox on a service-area map.
- Operations audited to SOC 2 Type 1 in 2023, and the HIPAA Seal of Compliance for clients handling patient records. The compliance work carries its own documentation at CMMC and NIST 800-171 and at HIPAA, rather than a bullet point.
- 120 days. That is a satisfaction guarantee written into every agreement we sign. Fall short of what we promised and you leave owing nothing, with no notice period to argue about.
Worth knowing before you call us
- Our Bay Area Google profile is the weaker of our two in this metro. 4.3 across 12 reviews, against 4.8 across 60 at the Houston office. Both are in the score above, and we are not going to bury the smaller one on a page we rank ourselves on.
- The delivery bench sits in Houston. If your requirement is a named engineer who is physically in Webster five days a week, Cyber One and BroCoTec are on NASA Parkway and we are not.
- We are the wrong shape for a five-person office. Under roughly 15 seats the per-user model stops earning its keep, and the CMIT entry further down is a better read for you.
Best for. Bay Area firms between roughly 15 and 200 people whose technology now carries something the business cannot explain away. A federal contract clause, patient records, export-controlled drawings, or a second site that grew across the water without a plan.
Not ideal for. Offices under 15 seats, and anyone whose deciding factor is a technician based inside the 77058 zip code.
Services. Managed IT, co-managed IT, cybersecurity, cloud and Microsoft 365, backup and disaster recovery, vCIO and IT strategy, compliance programmes, VoIP, AI enablement.
Industries. Aerospace and defense subcontractors, healthcare and dental, engineering, marine and logistics, professional services, construction, manufacturing.
Why we rank first. Any provider here can run a help desk. What separates them in this specific market is whether somebody has read your customer contract and turned the security language inside it into settings, access lists and evidence you can actually hand a prime when the supplier assessment lands. On most small teams that job is assigned to nobody at all. We take it, we publish what it costs, and we put a 120-day exit in the agreement in case we turn out to be wrong about ourselves. The model rewards those three things, and it would reward them for anyone else who did them.
2. Layer Logix, the small bench with the biggest verified review base
Twenty phone-interviewed Clutch reviews at 5.0 is the strongest independently verified review record anywhere on this page, and it belongs to a firm of fewer than ten people.
Bay Area Fit Score 6.7 out of 10
Key strengths
- 5.0 across 20 verified reviews on their Clutch profile, plus 5.0 across 30 on Google. Clutch reviews are collected by phone interview, which makes 20 of those worth more than most of the Google counts on this page.
- Compliance documentation naming the frameworks this market actually runs on. CMMC 2.0, NIST 800-171, ITAR, HIPAA and the FTC Safeguards Rule, with vCISO and privileged access management listed as delivered services rather than adjectives.
- They publish ranges. $125 to $275 per user per month fully managed, $75 to $140 co-managed. Only two providers here will give you any number at all before a call.
- Founded 2014, and the service list runs unusually wide for the headcount. Managed IT, cloud, backup, structured cabling, custom software and AI workflow work all sit under one roof.
The tradeoff. Clutch lists 2 to 9 employees. For a compliance-heavy engagement that is a genuinely thin bench, and their Clear Lake presence is a service-area page rather than a location. Fifty five miles. The Woodlands sits that far away and, at the wrong hour of the afternoon, well over an hour of I-45. A client testimonial on their Clear Lake page describes taking an aerospace firm from a CMMC self-assessment failure to Level 2 ready in eight months, which is a strong claim we could not independently verify. No confirmed placement on MSP 501, CRN or Cloudtango either.
Best for. A 10 to 40 seat firm that wants senior people on the account and does not need hands on site very often.
Not ideal for. Anyone running a second site across the water with a habit of needing somebody there the same day.
Why they rank second. Reviews carry 30% and Layer Logix wins that factor outright, including against us. What pulls them back to 6.7 is the 20% sitting on presence, where they score 4. Move this list to The Woodlands and they climb several places.
3. Cyber One Solutions, the neighbour on NASA Parkway
Business only, 48 Google reviews at 4.9, and an office at 1110 East NASA Parkway. If proximity is your deciding factor, this is the shortest answer on the page.
Bay Area Fit Score 6.6 out of 10
Key strengths
- 4.9 across 48 Google reviews. That is the second-largest verified review base here, and the largest belonging to a firm genuinely headquartered in Clear Lake.
- Their Google listing says out loud that they do not do residential or walk-in repair. Sounds like a small thing. It is not. A good share of the local IT listings around here are consumer shops with a business page bolted on the side.
- Controls and evidence mapped to HIPAA, PCI DSS, the FTC Safeguards Rule, GLBA, SOC 2 and CMMC, described as maintained monthly rather than assembled in a panic during an audit.
- A 24/7 network and security operations centre, a stated 15 minute average response on critical issues, and flat-rate monthly billing. Members of the Bay Area Houston Economic Partnership, which is where most of the aerospace membership in this market actually sits.
Worth knowing. No named industry award surfaced anywhere, on their site or on any awarding body directory. Founded 2018. Eight years. And there is no Clutch profile at all, which hurts badly on the largest factor because half the Tier 1 weight is lost rather than redistributed. The flat-rate pricing is stated but never quantified.
Best for. A Clear Lake or Webster office that wants an engineer who can walk over.
Not ideal for. A firm whose contracts hand down ITAR or FAR clauses and who needs that documented before a prime sends the next assessment.
Why they rank third. Second on presence, near the bottom on awards, and nothing at all on Clutch. That is the shape of a solid local firm that has never bothered with the industry apparatus, and the model reads it exactly that way.
4. Mako Logics, the compliance specialist nowhere near you
TWIC-credentialed engineers, an owned Tier III colocation facility, CMMC Level 2 work and C3PAO coordination. Then a Montgomery headquarters, 65 miles north.
Bay Area Fit Score 6.0 out of 10
Key strengths
- The deepest compliance documentation on this page alongside ours. CMMC Levels 1 and 2, ITAR and EAR, NIST 800-171, HIPAA and SOC 2, with C3PAO coordination described rather than hinted at.
- TWIC-credentialed engineers. Almost no MSP bothers. On this coast, where a client site can sit inside a secured port facility, it is the difference between your engineer getting through the gate and standing at it.
- Founded 2001, so 25 years, with a published average client tenure above 10 years. That number is harder to fake than most.
- They own an inland Tier III colocation facility outright, which is a genuinely unusual asset for a firm this size and a real answer for anyone who needs regulated data somewhere defensible.
The distance problem. Montgomery to Clear Lake is roughly 65 miles and crosses the entire Houston metro to do it. Sixty five miles. Their Clear Lake presence is a service-area page. 11 Google reviews, no Clutch profile, no independently confirmed award. Their own site describes remote response as instant and onsite work as scheduled through dispatch, which is a fair and honest way of saying what the mileage already says.
Best for. Aerospace and defense subcontractors whose CMMC or ITAR exposure is the entire problem, and who can live with remote-first delivery.
Not ideal for. A Webster medical practice on a landlord-controlled building network with a habit of needing somebody on site.
Why they rank fourth. They tie us on compliance depth and beat four providers on longevity. Then geography takes most of the presence factor away. This is the clearest case on the page of a good firm marked down for where it sits rather than what it knows.
5. BroCoTec, the other office on NASA Parkway
One building along from Cyber One at 1100 East NASA Parkway. Two of this market’s better local MSPs are, quite literally, neighbours. BroCoTec carries 5.0 across 33 Google reviews and a client list leaning marine, energy and engineering.
Bay Area Fit Score 5.6 out of 10
Key strengths
- 5.0 across 33 Google reviews. Nobody on this page holds a perfect rating on a larger volume than that.
- An industry list that reads like the Bay Area actually looks. Legal, manufacturing, energy, construction, marine, architecture, engineering and government services.
- Established 2019, 10 to 49 employees per Clutch, with 40-plus years of combined experience across the team.
- Full stack for a firm this size. Managed IT, vCIO, cybersecurity, network monitoring, cloud, backup and recovery, VoIP, hardware procurement, help desk and onsite support.
Here is the gap, and it is a real one. Not a single compliance framework is named anywhere on the site. Not one. Not CMMC. Not NIST 800-171. Not ITAR, not HIPAA. The word compliance appears more than once. The frameworks never do. For a provider marketing to aerospace and government services clients from an office on NASA Parkway, that is a strange thing to leave out. Their Clutch profile also exists with zero reviews sitting on it, which under this model is treated identically to having no profile at all.
Best for. Marine, energy and engineering firms in the Bay Area who want a neighbour and whose contracts do not carry security clauses yet.
Not ideal for. Any firm already sitting on CMMC or HIPAA exposure that needs it documented.
Why they rank fifth. Strong on the two factors you can see from the street, presence and reviews. Empty on the two that decide whether you survive a supplier assessment. A different mix of clauses in your contracts and this ranking would look quite different.
6. CMIT Solutions of Clear Lake, the franchise with a local owner
A League City office opened in April 2020 by Brad Bricker, sitting behind a national network of more than 250 locations, which is a genuinely different proposition from every other independent firm on this page, and it cuts in both directions once you look closely at what a franchise actually guarantees.
Bay Area Fit Score 5.4 out of 10
Key strengths
- A named local owner, which is more than several larger firms on this page manage. Brad Bricker opened the office at 2925 South Gulf Freeway in League City, as Community Impact reported in April 2020.
- Backing a seven-person independent cannot match. More than 250 CMIT locations across North America, with shared tooling, shared vendor agreements and a real escalation path behind one local office.
- Eleven documented service lines, including compliance, unified communications and IT procurement.
- A stated client mix that fits the geography properly. Aerospace suppliers, medical and dental practices, financial services firms, nonprofits, logistics and manufacturing.
Worth knowing. Four Google reviews in six years. That is the thinnest verified evidence base anywhere on this page and it is the single thing holding the score down, because reviews carry 30%. Four. No Clutch profile. No compliance framework named on the local page, even though the national network sells compliance services. And a franchise model means your experience depends far more on the individual office than on the brand above it.
Best for. A 5 to 20 seat Bay Area business signing its first managed IT contract and wanting a local owner with a national backstop.
Not ideal for. A firm with contract-driven security obligations that need documenting this quarter.
Why they rank sixth. Franchise structure cuts both ways here. It is a genuine advantage for a small first-time buyer and a genuine question mark for anyone with a compliance deadline. Six years and four reviews is not enough evidence to tell you which of those you are getting.
7. BAYCNS, the local generalist
Bay Area Computer and Networking Solutions has worked this shoreline since 2007, out of La Porte, at a price point the larger firms will not go near, and it is worth saying plainly that for a certain kind of very small office on the north shore that combination is a perfectly rational thing to buy.
Bay Area Fit Score 4.6 out of 10
Key strengths
- Nineteen years on this water. The coverage list reads like somebody who has genuinely driven it. La Porte, Clear Lake, Webster, Nassau Bay, Seabrook, Kemah, League City, Deer Park, Baytown, Shoreacres and Morgan’s Point.
- They say they are within 30 minutes of nearly all clients, and from La Porte that is a credible claim for the north shore.
- Honest about being the cheaper option. The site states plainly that it delivers for less than larger competitors, which is a position most firms are far too proud to put in writing.
- Real Microsoft 365, SharePoint, wireless and network depth for a firm this size, plus hosted Exchange and remote access work.
Worth knowing. Residential work is still on the service list, alongside home theatre, and the stated client mix includes home offices. That is a different business from running technology for a 40-seat aerospace subcontractor. Home theatre. Four Google reviews. No Clutch profile. No framework named. No award. The Google listing carries no street address either, only a service area.
Best for. A very small Bay Area office, under about 10 seats, that wants one familiar person who picks up the phone.
Not ideal for. Anything with HIPAA, CMMC or ITAR anywhere in the picture.
Why they rank seventh. Last place here is not an accusation. It is a category mismatch. BAYCNS is being scored against a model built for firms with contract-driven security exposure, and they are not selling to those firms. For a six-person office in Seabrook that wants wireless that works and a person who knows their name, they may well be the right call.
Who we looked at and left off
Our Maps scrape surfaced 40 businesses across Clear Lake, Webster, Nassau Bay and League City. Most were not the right shape. Most were noise. Five are worth explaining, because a couple have better numbers than providers we did include.
- OneSource Cloud Services holds 4.7 across 232 Google reviews from an office on Egret Bay Boulevard. That is the largest review base in this geography by a distance. Their Google category is computer security service and the positioning is cloud and security rather than general managed IT for small firms. Different animal.
- GB Tech on Space Park Drive carries 5.0 across 39 and NASA credentials going back decades. Their work weights toward federal prime and subcontract engineering services rather than commercial managed IT. Wrong list, not a weaker firm.
- Braintek publishes a Clear Lake location page and markets to aerospace and biotech clients here. Their operating base is north Houston and no Bay Area listing surfaced in the local Maps set, so there was nothing verified to score presence on.
- Advanced Computers and Laptops in Webster holds 397 Google reviews, more than any other result in the area by a wide margin. It is a retail repair shop. Not a managed services provider.
- Precision Technology Solutions and DIGITALIS both carry strong League City records, 5.0 across 46 and 4.9 across 83. Both read as computer service and repair rather than contracted managed IT, so neither was scored.

How to choose an IT provider on this side of the bay
Decide first whether you need somebody through the door. If the answer is yes, your shortlist is three names long, because only three of these seven hold a verified street address inside the Bay Area footprint.
That is the fork. Everything else follows from it, which is why the rest of this section is organized around the four situations that come up most often when a Bay Area owner sits down and works out which of these seven names is genuinely worth an hour of their afternoon.
If your customer contracts carry security language. Ask each provider to name the clause. Not the framework, the clause. A provider who has done this work will say FAR 52.204-21 and then tell you which of the fifteen controls you are currently failing. A provider who has not will say the word compliance and move on. Three of the seven here pass that test on their public documentation alone.
If you are a Webster medical practice. The building network is the question nobody asks early enough. Ask who owns the switch your patient data crosses on its way out of the suite, and whether your provider has ever separated a clinic from a landlord-controlled network before. Then ask for the answer in writing. Our HIPAA compliant IT work covers what that separation actually involves.
If you are under 15 seats. Per-user pricing stops making sense somewhere around there and a smaller local firm will usually serve you better than any of the larger names, including us. Look hard at CMIT and at BAYCNS. Neither will win an awards table. Both will pick up the phone.
If you sit on both sides of the water. Get the drive time in the agreement. Not the mileage, the drive time, and specifically at 4pm on a Thursday. Then ask what happens when both sites need somebody at once, which is the question that actually separates a two-person shop from a real bench. Clients a few miles south often work with us through our League City practice, which is the same engineers and a shorter drive.
And whatever else you do, normalise every quote to a per-user-per-month figure before you compare anything. Some proposals fold security tooling and after-hours cover into the rate. Others treat both as line items you will meet later. The spread between two quotes that look identical on the front page can be 40% once you get to the third invoice, and by then the switching cost has already done its job. The Houston managed IT cost breakdown lists the components worth checking line by line. Aerospace suppliers in this market should also read what IT support costs a NASA-area aerospace subcontractor.
Hector and Kareem are super helpful! They are always willing to take on my computer problems even if its small. I had my mouse disappear off my screen, it was an user issue but Hector didn't make me feel small or "dumb" for this error. We love uprite!
I had been having trouble with an IT matter that I didn't think would be fixed but Arvin Ebueng from Upright took his time with me and worked with me until we were able to resolve the issue. The issue was an internal issue with the way the program was written, but Arvin came up with a great work around so that I am now able to do what I need to do at my job. Long story short, he got me access to both things that I need access to simultaneously and daily. Thanks 😊 Arvin, you are much appreciated 👏 💐 🥳.
I'm am not a "tech" person, however the team at Uprite gets me through the technological side of computers and software so that I can function on a daily basis... but the most enduring quality is that they care. Special shoot out to Mary, Sergio, Eufemio, Hector, and Jeff just to name a few... I appreciate each of you and the help you give me.
Uprite has been one of the best services the company I work with has provided for us they help us with any issues we run into and are always easy to work with, and very patient with us and friendly.
Sergio Rios is a rock star. I spent about 2 hours trying to fix a problem myself, then called him, and in under 3 minutes my issue was resolved. I highly recommend Uprite, and especially Sergio.
The bottom line for Bay Area companies
Uprite ranks first at 9.1 for one reason above the others. Just one. In a market where the security requirements arrive inside a purchase order rather than from a regulator, we are the only provider here that has both the documented compliance practice and a published price, and we put a 120-day exit behind both.
Plenty of people reading this should not hire us. If your entire problem is CMMC Level 2 and you do not need hands on site, Mako Logics is the deeper specialist. If you want your provider on the same street and your contracts are clean, Cyber One is a genuinely good firm with 48 reviews to prove it. If you are under 15 seats, look at CMIT before you look at us.
And if any of these providers moves, we will move them. A new MSP 501 placement, a review base that shifts, a Clutch profile that finally gets built, an acquisition that changes who owns the local team, any of it re-scores this page. A ranking that never changes is a ranking that stopped being measured.
Find out what you could actually prove today
Our engineers walk the network, the endpoints, the cloud tenancy, the backups, the file permissions and the account list, then write down what a customer assessment would turn up. Findings inside two working days. Nothing to pay, and the document stays yours whatever you decide next.
What Bay Area buyers ask
Does it actually matter if my IT company is based in Clear Lake?
Sometimes. Genuinely. It matters a great deal if you run a lab, a shop or a second site and need hands on hardware the same day. It matters much less if your team is 20 people in one suite on Bay Area Boulevard.
Be honest about which one you are, because proximity is expensive to buy and worthless if you never use it. The useful question is not where the office is. It is how many engineers are behind the one who answers, and what happens the week that person is on site at a customer facility and something breaks at home.
What should IT support cost for a 30-person Webster office?
Roughly $2,730 to $4,140 a month at published per-user rates, based on our own $91 to $138 tiers. That is the only per-user figure in dollars among the seven providers on this page.
Layer Logix publishes ranges of $125 to $275 fully managed. Everyone else quotes after a discovery call. Compare on a per-user-per-month basis and then check what sits inside each number, because security tooling and after-hours coverage are the two components most often left out of the headline rate.
Our contracts mention NIST 800-171. Where do we even start?
Start with a file inventory, not a tool purchase. Find out where the controlled drawings and documents actually live today, who can open them, and whether any of it sits in a personal cloud drive somebody set up in a hurry.
Almost nobody fails these assessments on encryption. They fail on access lists that grew for four years and were never reviewed, and on the honest answer to “who has a copy of this” being nobody knows. Our CMMC and NIST 800-171 practice starts there for exactly that reason.
Nobody here will quote a price without a call. Is that normal?
It is normal, and it is worth pushing back on. Five of the seven providers on this page publish no number at all. Two publish something. One publishes a rate card. That is the whole market.
There are legitimate reasons a provider wants to scope before quoting. There are also less legitimate ones. Ask for a per-user band on the first call and see whether you get a range or a redirect. A provider who cannot give you a band before understanding your environment can usually still give you the band they have never gone below.
We have an office and a shop across the water. Does that change anything?
It changes almost everything. Two sites means one network policy, one identity system and one set of backups, not two of each that quietly drifted apart over three years while nobody was looking at them side by side.
Most Bay Area firms this size did not plan the second site. It accumulated. A lease got signed, a switch got plugged in, and somebody set up a shared folder because it was faster than asking. Ask any provider you talk to how they would join the two, and listen for whether the answer involves a VPN tunnel and a shrug or an actual identity and access design.
How fast can we switch providers if we are mid-programme?
Two to four weeks of real work for most firms this size, scheduled around your delivery dates rather than straight through them. Five weeks if regulated data has to be relocated as part of the move.
The constraint that matters is not speed. Not really. It is whether the new provider will agree to documented change freezes around your test windows and programme milestones before any structural work begins. Ask that on the first call. Any provider who cannot tell you which weeks they will stay away from your systems has not thought about how your revenue works.
