Oil and Gas
From the Wellhead to the Refinery
Uprite provides managed IT, cybersecurity, and OT/SCADA support for oil and gas companies across upstream, midstream, and downstream operations. We keep field sites connected, production data flowing, and your networks compliant with TSA, SEC, and NIST requirements.
Oil and gas runs on uptime. When a remote site drops offline or SCADA goes dark, the cost is measured in barrels, not tickets. Uprite keeps the technology behind your operation stable, secure, and audit-ready.

The Operating Reality
The Pressure on Oil & Gas IT Keeps Climbing
Ask any operations lead what keeps them up at night. It is rarely one thing.
A pumpjack site loses connectivity and field data stops flowing. A twenty-year-old SCADA system runs software nobody wants to touch. An office in Houston and a rig two hundred miles out both need to see the same production numbers, in real time, without a breach in between. And now the board wants to know who is responsible when a cyber incident has to be reported to the SEC in four days.
Here is the part most vendors skip. Your IT and your operational technology are no longer separate worlds. They talk to each other. That connection is what makes modern production efficient, and it is also the door attackers walk through.
Ransomware crews have noticed. Attacks on the oil and gas sector jumped 935% between April 2024 and April 2025, according to industrial cybersecurity firm Dragos (Dragos 2025 OT Cybersecurity Year in Review). The same research found the average intruder sits inside an OT environment for 42 days before being caught. Operators with real visibility into their OT contained the same incidents in 5 days.
That gap is the whole game. It is also exactly what a specialist provider is for.

Upstream, Midstream, Downstream
What We Handle Across the Value Chain
Most IT companies sell you a help desk and call it a day. Oil and gas is not a help-desk business. The work changes depending on where you sit in the chain, so we split it that way.

Upstream: the field is your data center
Exploration, drilling, and production generate data in places with bad roads and worse bandwidth. We keep it moving.
- Field data capture and production tracking, connected back to your office and your accounting stack
- Remote-site connectivity across satellite and terrestrial links, so a well in the Permian shows up on the same dashboard as your Houston headquarters
- SCADA and OT security, including network segmentation that keeps control systems apart from the corporate network
- Integration with OGsys and other oil and gas cloud accounting platforms, so JIB, AFE, and revenue data stay clean

Midstream: pipelines carry compliance risk too
If you move product, you are in scope for federal pipeline security rules. We build the monitoring and documentation that keeps you inside them.
- OT monitoring for pipeline control systems and compressor stations
- Support aligned to TSA Pipeline Security Directive requirements, including the incident response planning and annual testing the current directive demands
- Segmentation and access control mapped to API 1164, the industry standard for pipeline SCADA security

Downstream: refineries run on integrated IT
Refining and distribution live on ERP, scheduling, and trading systems that cannot go down mid-cycle.
- Managed applications and integrations across your ERP, scheduling, and trading-desk tools
- 24/7 monitoring and preventative maintenance, including patching on a schedule that respects your production windows
- Equipment performance data visualization, so the people making decisions can actually see what the plant is doing
Compliance
Regulation Is Not Optional in This Industry
Oil and gas is one of the most regulated verticals in the country, and cybersecurity rules have tightened fast. You do not have to be an expert in every one of these. You do have to be able to prove you are meeting them. We help you do the second part.
TSA Pipeline Security Directives
Pipeline and LNG owner-operators must maintain a TSA-approved Cybersecurity Implementation Plan and an incident response plan, and test that plan every year. The current directive, SD02F, took effect May 3, 2025. We build and maintain the documentation and controls behind it.
SEC Cyber-Disclosure Rules
If you are a publicly traded E&P or midstream company, you now have to report a material cybersecurity incident on Form 8-K, Item 1.05, within four business days of deciding it is material. Those rules took effect September 5, 2023. We give you the detection and forensics that let you make that call quickly and defensibly.
NIST, CISA, and CIRCIA
Federal frameworks increasingly expect NIST Cybersecurity Framework alignment and rapid incident reporting for critical infrastructure. We map your environment to them so an audit is a formality, not a fire drill.

And on our side of the table: Uprite maintains SOC 2 attestation, so the partner handling your systems is held to an independently audited security standard. We are also MSP 501 recognized among the top managed service providers in North America.
Note: The federal frameworks above describe your obligations as an operator. Uprite helps you meet them; we do not assert them as our own certifications. Our attestation is SOC 2.
Why Uprite
Why Oil & Gas Operators Choose Uprite
Plenty of MSPs will take your contract. Fewer understand a JIB, a compressor station, or why a refinery cannot reboot a controller at 2 p.m. on a Tuesday. Uprite triages IT issues in under 10 minutes and backs every engagement with a 120-day satisfaction guarantee.
Industry Fluency
Our technicians work with oil and gas systems and the compliance environment around them, not just generic office IT.
A National Field Network
We support sites across the United States and Canada, so a remote location is not a coverage gap.
SOC 2 Attested, MSP 501 Recognized
Independent proof that we run our own shop the way we would run yours.
A 24/7 Security Operations Center
Threats do not keep business hours, and neither does monitoring that matters.
Houston Roots
We know this industry because we are in the middle of it, serving Houston, Katy, San Antonio, and Dallas.
One Partner for IT and OT
No finger-pointing between vendors when a control system and a corporate network disagree.

Who This Is For, and Who It Is Not
This is a fit if you are:
- ✓An upstream, midstream, or downstream operator that treats an outage as a production loss, not an inconvenience
- ✓A company with remote sites, OT/SCADA systems, and an office network that all have to work together safely
- ✓A publicly traded or regulated operator that has to prove compliance to a board, an auditor, or a federal agency
- ✓A team that wants one partner accountable for both IT and OT, instead of finger-pointing between vendors
This is probably not the fit if you are:
- ✗A single-office operation with no field sites, no OT, and no compliance exposure. Standard business IT will serve you fine, and we will tell you that honestly.
- ✗Shopping purely on price with no interest in security or uptime guarantees. That is not the work we do well.
Straight Answers
The Objections We Hear Most
“We can’t risk downtime just to change IT providers.”
Neither would we. Our onboarding starts with assessment and mapping, not ripping things out. Changes to OT happen in your maintenance windows, tested first, with a rollback ready.
“Our field sites barely have bandwidth.”
That is normal, and it is half of what we do. We design connectivity for low-bandwidth and intermittent links, using satellite and terrestrial together so a site stays visible even when one path drops.
“We already have an internal IT team.”
Good. Many of our oil and gas clients run co-managed. Your team keeps the relationships and the day-to-day; we add the OT security, the 24/7 monitoring, and the compliance muscle they do not have time to build.
“Switching MSPs always goes badly.”
Often true, usually because the old provider left no documentation. We document everything we touch, so you are never locked in by ignorance again.
Our Process
How an Engagement Works
Four steps. No surprises.
Assess
We map your IT and OT together, find the exposure, and rank it by production risk, not by what is easiest to bill.
Map and Plan
You get a written plan with priorities, timelines, and the compliance frameworks each item satisfies.
Remediate
We close the highest-risk gaps first, working inside your maintenance windows so production never pays for security.
Manage
Ongoing monitoring, patching, help desk, and a 24/7 SOC, with reporting your board and your auditors can actually use.

FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
It keeps the technology behind exploration, production, transport, and refining running and secure. That means field-site connectivity, SCADA and OT protection, managed IT and help desk, and the compliance work that federal energy rules now require.
Both, and the connection between them. Modern attacks move from the corporate network into control systems, so we segment and monitor OT alongside standard IT rather than treating them as separate problems.
Yes. We build and maintain the Cybersecurity Implementation Plan, the incident response plan, and the annual testing the current TSA directive requires, and we keep the documentation an inspector will ask for.
We design for it. Satellite and terrestrial links run together so a remote well or station stays visible even when one path fails, and data syncs back once the connection returns.
No. Co-managed IT is common in this industry. Your team stays in place and we add OT security, 24/7 monitoring, and compliance support on top.
Uprite maintains SOC 2 attestation and is MSP 501 recognized. For the federal frameworks that govern your operation, such as TSA and SEC rules, we help you meet the requirements rather than claiming them as our own certifications.

Stop Measuring IT Risk in Barrels
One outage at the wrong site, or one reportable breach, can cost more than years of managed services. The operators who sleep at night are the ones who stopped treating security as a project and made it a standing capability.
