Maritime & Logistics
IT for Freight That Never Stops

Uprite provides managed IT, cybersecurity, and operational technology support to maritime and logistics companies across Texas. We keep terminals, warehouses, and dispatch running, protect the systems that move freight, and connect ports, yards, and drivers so a shipment never stalls on a technology failure.

Freight does not wait for a help desk. When a terminal system freezes, a transportation management system goes down, or a ransomware note locks your dispatch, the cost shows up in stranded loads, demurrage, and missed delivery windows. Uprite keeps the technology behind the supply chain stable, fast, and secure.

The Operating Reality

The Technology Behind the Supply Chain Never Gets a Day Off

Ask an operations leader at a freight, warehousing, or maritime company where the day goes sideways. It is rarely one thing.

A transportation or warehouse management system hiccups and orders back up across every dock. A terminal, scale, or gate system freezes while trucks idle in the yard. A driver in the field cannot reach dispatch. A backup runs every night, but nobody has ever tested a restore. And the shipment data, customer records, and payment details sitting on your systems are exactly what a criminal wants to steal, divert, or lock.

Here is the part most IT companies miss. Logistics is not standard office IT that happens to have trucks outside. It is 24/7 operations, thin margins, operational technology at ports and terminals, systems that talk to partners over EDI, and a workforce spread across yards, warehouses, cabs, and back offices. Treat it like a generic help-desk account and the cracks show up during a vessel call or a peak-season surge.

Attackers have noticed the pressure. Cargo fraud has gone digital, with double-brokering, fictitious pickups, and diverted loads that start with a spoofed email or a stolen login. Estimated cargo theft losses across the U.S. and Canada climbed to roughly $725 million in 2025, a 60% jump from the year before, as thieves chased high-value freight (Verisk CargoNet). The reason the sector is targeted is simple. Freight moves large payments, cannot afford downtime, and runs on systems that were never designed with security first.

That is the gap a specialist provider closes. Not a bigger help desk. IT built for how the supply chain actually runs.

Operations, Connectivity, Security

What We Handle for Maritime & Logistics Companies

Most IT companies sell you a help desk and a firewall. A logistics operation needs more than that. The work splits into three jobs, and we handle all three.

Dispatchers in a logistics operations control center monitoring shipment tracking maps and freight dashboards on large screens

Operations technology that keeps freight moving

The systems that dispatch loads, track shipments, and run your terminals and warehouses. We keep them online around the clock.

  • Support for transportation and warehouse management systems (TMS and WMS), EDI connections, and dispatch platforms your operation runs on
  • Reliable networks across ports, terminals, distribution centers, and yards, sized for 24/7 throughput
  • Uptime for the operational technology behind facilities, from scanners and scales to yard and gate systems
  • Backup and disaster recovery built around shipping windows, with restores that are actually tested

Connected sites, fleets, and a mobile workforce

Ports, warehouses, yards, drivers, and brokers all need the same information, wherever they are. We make that connection reliable and secure.

  • Secure connectivity between headquarters, distribution centers, terminals, and remote yards
  • Cloud collaboration on Microsoft 365 and Azure, so dispatchers, brokers, and the back office work the same data
  • Secure remote and mobile access for drivers, field staff, and after-hours operations
  • Multi-site file access and identity control, so a Houston team and a Dallas team never step on each other

Security, cargo-fraud defense, and compliance

Your shipments, customer data, and payment flows are targets. We protect them and give you proof when a shipper, port, or contract asks for it.

  • Ransomware and operational-technology protection for the systems that move and track freight
  • Email, wire-fraud, and identity defense against business email compromise, double-brokering, and fictitious pickups
  • Readiness for USCG, TSA, and C-TPAT supply-chain security requirements
  • 24/7 monitoring and a security operations center watching while your operation runs overnight

Compliance and Contracts

When Moving Freight Comes With Security Requirements

Keeping cargo moving increasingly means proving you can protect the systems behind it. Federal maritime rules now carry cybersecurity mandates. Trusted-trader programs and large shippers write security expectations into their agreements. And your own liability rests on keeping shipment and customer data intact. You do not have to become a security expert. You do have to be able to show you are covered, and that is the part we own.

USCG Cybersecurity in the Marine Transportation System

The Coast Guard’s final rule, published January 2025 and effective July 2025, sets minimum cybersecurity requirements for U.S.-flagged vessels and MTSA-regulated facilities. Reportable cyber incidents must be reported now, and owners must designate a Cybersecurity Officer, complete a Cybersecurity Assessment, and file a Cybersecurity Plan by July 2027. We help you assess, document, and implement the controls.

TSA Directives and C-TPAT Supply-Chain Security

Surface transportation operators face TSA security directives, and CBP’s C-TPAT trusted-trader program includes cybersecurity minimum-security criteria for members. We implement the access controls, monitoring, and documentation these programs expect, and give you the evidence to answer a questionnaire with confidence.

CMMC and NIST 800-171 for Defense Logistics

If you move freight or provide logistics services for the Department of Defense, you inherit NIST SP 800-171 and, increasingly, CMMC obligations. We map your environment to the controls, close the gaps, and build the documentation an assessor will ask to see. Learn more about our CMMC compliance support in Texas.

And on our side of the table: Uprite maintains SOC 2 attestation, so the partner handling your systems is held to an independently audited security standard. We are also MSP 501 recognized among the top managed service providers in North America.

Note: The frameworks above describe your obligations when you move regulated or federal freight. Uprite helps you meet them; we do not assert them as our own certifications. Our attestation is SOC 2.

Why Uprite

Why Maritime & Logistics Companies Choose Uprite

Plenty of MSPs will take your contract. Fewer understand why a terminal cannot go down during a vessel call, or why a spoofed carrier email is the most expensive message your dispatcher will ever open.

Supply-Chain Fluency

We work with TMS, WMS, EDI, and the operational technology behind terminals and warehouses, not just office IT, so support fits how freight actually moves.

Texas Roots, Port to Inland

We serve Houston, Katy, San Antonio, and Dallas, and we connect operations that run across multiple sites and yards as if they were one.

SOC 2 Attested, MSP 501 Recognized

Independent proof that we run our own shop the way we would run yours.

A 24/7 Security Operations Center

Freight moves overnight, and so does the monitoring that catches threats before they stop it.

One Partner, Dock to Cloud

Networks, operational technology, cloud, backup, and security under one accountable roof, with no vendor finger-pointing.

Co-Managed If You Have Internal IT

Keep your in-house team and add our security, backup, and after-hours depth on top.

Proof, Not Promises

The Track Record Behind the Pitch

We would rather point to a record than make a claim. Uprite is SOC 2 attested and MSP 501 recognized, and we support businesses across Houston, Katy, San Antonio, and Dallas. See how we have handled real client environments, from rapid disaster recovery to full cloud migrations.

Fit Check

Who This Is For, and Who It Is Not

This is a fit if you are:

  • A freight, warehousing, distribution, or maritime company where a system outage means stranded loads and missed delivery windows
  • An operation with multiple sites, yards, or a mobile workforce that all need the same shipment data, securely and in sync
  • A company subject to USCG, TSA, C-TPAT, or DoD logistics requirements that has to prove its cybersecurity
  • A team that wants one partner accountable for networks, operational technology, cloud, backup, and security instead of juggling vendors

This is probably not the fit if you are:

  • A single owner-operator with one truck, one phone, and no shared systems or compliance exposure. Standard business IT will serve you fine, and we will say so.
  • Shopping purely on price with no interest in security, backup, or uptime. That is not the work we do well.

Straight Answers

The Objections We Hear Most

“Our terminal and dispatch systems are too specialized for an outside IT company.”

It is the work we do. We support TMS, WMS, EDI, and the operational technology behind terminals and warehouses every day, and we build support around your shipping windows, not around generic office hours.

“We run 24/7. We can’t risk downtime.”

Neither would we. Changes happen in planned windows, tested first, with a rollback ready. Our monitoring is built to catch problems before they reach a loading dock or a vessel call.

“We already have internal IT.”

Good. Many of our logistics clients run co-managed. Your team keeps the day-to-day; we add the security, backup, and after-hours coverage a lean department cannot cover alone.

“How does IT stop cargo fraud? That is not a computer problem.”

Increasingly it is. Double-brokering, fictitious pickups, and diverted loads start with spoofed emails, stolen logins, and compromised carrier identities. Email defense, multi-factor authentication, and monitoring cut off the digital entry points fraud rides in on.

Our Process

How an Engagement Works

Four steps. No surprises.

01

Assess

We map your networks, operational technology, TMS and WMS, cloud, and security, and rank what we find by operational risk, not by what is easiest to bill.

02

Plan

You get a written plan with priorities, timelines, and the compliance requirements each item satisfies.

03

Migrate and Remediate

We close the highest-risk gaps first and move systems on your schedule, working around shipping windows so operations never pay for the upgrade.

04

Manage

Ongoing monitoring, patching, help desk, backup, and a 24/7 SOC, with reporting your leadership and your partners can actually use.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What does IT support for a maritime or logistics company include?

It keeps the technology behind freight fast and secure. That means reliable networks across ports, warehouses, and yards, support for TMS, WMS, and EDI systems, secure access for drivers and dispatchers, backup and disaster recovery, cybersecurity, and help meeting USCG, TSA, and C-TPAT requirements.

Do you support transportation and warehouse management systems (TMS and WMS)?

Yes. We support the transportation and warehouse management systems, EDI connections, and dispatch platforms logistics operations run on, and we keep the networks and infrastructure behind them online 24/7.

Can you help us meet the new Coast Guard cybersecurity rule for the marine transportation system?

Yes. For MTSA-regulated facilities and U.S.-flagged vessels, we help you meet the USCG Cybersecurity in the Marine Transportation System final rule: incident reporting, a Cybersecurity Assessment, a Cybersecurity Plan, and the technical controls, ahead of the July 2027 deadline.

How does IT security help prevent cargo theft and freight fraud?

Modern cargo fraud runs on spoofed emails, stolen logins, and compromised carrier identities behind double-brokering and fictitious pickups. Email defense, multi-factor authentication, and 24/7 monitoring cut off the digital entry points that fraud rides in on.

We have offices and yards in more than one city. Can everyone work from the same data?

Yes. We set up secure connectivity and cloud collaboration on Microsoft 365 and Azure, with access control so multiple sites, dispatchers, and drivers work the same shipment data without stepping on each other.

We already have internal IT. Do we have to replace them?

No. Co-managed IT is common in logistics. Your in-house team keeps daily support, and we add security, backup, 24/7 monitoring, and compliance depth on top.

Which areas do you serve?

We support maritime and logistics companies across Texas, with local teams in Houston, Katy, San Antonio, and Dallas.
