IT Consulting Services
IT Consulting Services for Texas Businesses That Need a Plan, Not Another Report
IT consulting services help a business decide what technology to buy, fix, or retire, and in what order. Uprite delivers that roadmap across Houston, Dallas, San Antonio, and Fort Worth, then implements it.

Why IT Consulting
You Paid for Advice. You Still Have the Same Problems.
Here is the pattern we walk into constantly. A Texas company hires a consulting firm. Six weeks later a 60-page assessment arrives. It is thorough. It is accurate. It is also completely unactionable, because the firm that wrote it does not do implementation, the internal team that has to execute it is already three months behind on ticket volume, and nobody has been given a budget to act on any of it.
Nothing changes. Twelve months later the same gaps get rediscovered by a different consultant.
We built our consulting practice to close that loop. The people who assess your environment are the people who will implement the fix and support it afterward, which means every recommendation has to survive the moment our own engineers are handed it and asked to make it work on your actual network with your actual budget. That changes what gets recommended. Nobody here benefits from proposing work they will not have to deliver.

What an IT Consulting Engagement Actually Produces
Not a diagnosis. A sequence. Every engagement ends with four artifacts you can hand to a CFO, a board, or an auditor: a current-state assessment covering network, endpoints, identity, backup, and cloud posture, with each finding rated by business risk rather than technical severity; a prioritized remediation sequence ordered by what reduces the most risk per dollar, not by what is easiest to sell; a 12 to 36 month technology budget with capital and operating costs separated, so it survives contact with your finance team; and a compliance gap register mapped to whichever framework applies to you, whether that is HIPAA, CMMC, PCI DSS, SOC 2, or the Texas Data Privacy and Security Act.
“You own all four. Take them to a competitor. They still work.”

Engagement Models
Three Ways Texas Companies Buy IT Consulting From Us
Project Assessment and Roadmap
A fixed-scope, fixed-fee engagement. We assess, we document, we present, we hand over. Typically four to six weeks. Right when you have a specific decision in front of you: a migration, an acquisition, a failed audit, a lease expiring on aging hardware. Our compliance and regulatory assessment and AI readiness assessment both run on this model.
Ongoing vCIO Advisory
A named virtual CIO who owns your technology plan on a recurring cadence, sits in on leadership meetings, handles vendor negotiations and renewals, and keeps the roadmap current as headcount, regulation, and priorities shift underneath it. This is the model most clients settle into after a first assessment. Full detail lives on our vCIO services page.
Consulting Built Into Managed IT
For companies that want strategy and execution on one agreement. Roadmapping, budgeting, and quarterly business reviews are included in our managed IT services rather than billed separately. Most companies start with the first model. A roadmap that nobody maintains goes stale in about nine months, which is why so many move to the second or third inside a year.
Pricing & Expectations
IT Consulting Pricing: What Texas Businesses Should Expect
Three shapes. Consulting is priced three ways, and which one you get depends on how certain the scope is. Project assessments are a fixed fee. Ongoing advisory is a monthly retainer. Bundled consulting is folded into the per-user rate on a managed IT agreement. Our pricing page covers the managed side in more detail.
What actually moves the number is fairly predictable: how many users and devices you run, how many physical locations they sit across, what regulatory exposure you carry, how much usable documentation already exists, and the condition of the hardware and licensing you have already bought. An environment with no asset inventory and no current network diagram costs meaningfully more to assess than one that has both, because before we can analyze anything we spend the first week building the documentation that should have existed already.
We quote after a scoping call. Not before. Anyone who quotes a consulting engagement off a website form is guessing. Ask them why.
| Model | How it is priced | Best when | Typical commitment |
|---|---|---|---|
| Project assessment | Fixed fee, quoted after a scoping call | Scope is known and bounded | One time, 4 to 6 weeks |
| vCIO advisory | Monthly retainer, scaled to users and complexity | You need a plan maintained, not just written | Month to month or annual |
| Included in managed IT | Bundled into the per-user rate | You want strategy and execution on one invoice | Annual agreement |
Comparison
Who Should Own Your Technology Strategy
Three models, and they are not equally good at the same things. The honest version is below.
Pure Consulting Firm
Writes the strategy, then leaves. Genuinely independent, which matters for pre-acquisition due diligence where your incumbent provider is part of exactly what is being evaluated. High one-time fee. Nobody is accountable if the plan never gets executed.
MSP That Consults
Writes the strategy, implements it, and supports it afterward, so the recommendation has to survive its own delivery. Fixed fee or monthly. Accountable under our service guarantee. Less useful when what you need is an outside opinion on us.
In-House IT Lead
Knows the business better than anyone external ever will. Also the person already buried in daily firefighting, which is why the roadmap keeps slipping. Salary plus benefits. Strategy competes with tickets every single week.
Right Fit Check
Is IT Consulting the Right Fit for Your Business?
You are between 20 and 500 employees and technology decisions get made reactively
You are facing a specific event: an audit, a merger, an office move, a failed backup
You have a capable internal IT person or small team with no time to plan
You are in a regulated industry and cannot demonstrate compliance on demand
Who this is not for. Under 10 employees on a simple cloud-only setup, you need reliable support more than you need strategy. If you want a document to satisfy a checkbox and have no intention of executing it, we are the wrong firm. If you need a decision this week, a real assessment takes four weeks minimum. And if you are shopping on hourly rate alone, we are not the cheapest option and we will not pretend to be.
How We Run a Consulting Engagement
Scope the Engagement (Week 0)
Ninety minutes, no charge. We map your environment at a high level, confirm what decision is actually driving this, and quote a fixed fee. If an assessment is not worth doing, you will hear that on the call.
Discover and Analyze (Weeks 1 to 3)
Automated discovery across network, endpoints, identity, and cloud, plus interviews with the people who use the systems every day. The interviews find the problems the tooling cannot see. Every finding is then rated on business impact and likelihood, and mapped to your compliance obligations against the NIST Cybersecurity Framework.
Roadmap, Present, Hand Over (Weeks 4 to 5)
We build the sequence and cost it out, capital separated from operating. Then we present to leadership, not just IT, and answer the question everyone actually cares about: what happens if you do nothing. You implement it, we implement it, or we stay on as your vCIO. Your call, with no penalty for choosing the first option.
Service Highlights
Same bench, either way. Every consulting engagement draws on the same bench that runs our managed and security services, so the recommendations you get are the ones we already know how to deliver in Texas environments.

Client Testimonials
Hector and Kareem are super helpful! They are always willing to take on my computer problems even if its small. I had my mouse disappear off my screen, it was an user issue but Hector didn't make me feel small or "dumb" for this error. We love uprite!
I’ve been extremely satisfied with Uprite Services and would recommend them without hesitation. They consistently deliver reliable, high-quality work and truly feel like a true partner rather than just another vendor. A special thank you goes to Arvin Ebueng, he is always quick to respond to our needs and incredibly easy to communicate with. No matter how busy things get, Arvin makes sure we’re taken care of promptly and with a smile. His responsiveness and clear communication have made every interaction smooth and stress-free. Thank you, Arvin and the entire Uprite team, Peerless Equipment is a customer for life!
I had been having trouble with an IT matter that I didn't think would be fixed but Arvin Ebueng from Upright took his time with me and worked with me until we were able to resolve the issue. The issue was an internal issue with the way the program was written, but Arvin came up with a great work around so that I am now able to do what I need to do at my job. Long story short, he got me access to both things that I need access to simultaneously and daily. Thanks 😊 Arvin, you are much appreciated 👏 💐 🥳.
Gerardo Sanchez was very helpful & professional. Uprite Services has great customer service and outstanding technicians. We have used them for several years and will continue our business with them.
I'm am not a "tech" person, however the team at Uprite gets me through the technological side of computers and software so that I can function on a daily basis... but the most enduring quality is that they care. Special shoot out to Mary, Sergio, Eufemio, Hector, and Jeff just to name a few... I appreciate each of you and the help you give me.
Great service by Juan and Jacob. Always helping us out at Alamo City Trailer Sales. We have been using this company for over 10 years and always happy with the work they do.

FAQ
IT Consulting FAQ
A current-state assessment, a prioritized remediation plan, a 12 to 36 month technology budget, and a compliance gap register. Some engagements add vendor analysis, cloud migration planning, or merger due diligence depending on what is driving the project. For the plain-English version, see what IT consulting is.
Project assessments are quoted as a fixed fee after a scoping call. Ongoing vCIO advisory is a monthly retainer scaled to your user count and complexity. Consulting is also included inside our managed IT agreements. Cost is driven by user and device count, number of locations, regulatory exposure, and how much documentation already exists.
Four to six weeks for a standard assessment and roadmap. Discovery runs two weeks, analysis one week, and roadmap and presentation the remainder. Larger multi-site or regulated environments can run eight weeks.
Consulting decides what should happen to your technology. Managed IT services run it day to day. Consulting is strategic and time-boxed. Managed services are operational and continuous. Most growing companies eventually need both, which is why we offer them on a single agreement.
No. The assessment, roadmap, budget, and gap register are yours to keep and remain useful with any provider. We deliberately price the assessment as a standalone engagement, rather than discounting it against future implementation work, so that walking out with the documents and hiring somebody else to execute them costs you nothing and carries no penalty.
Yes. We map your current state against the framework that applies, whether HIPAA, CMMC, PCI DSS, SOC 2, or the Texas Data Privacy and Security Act, and deliver a gap register with remediation sequenced by deadline. Free CISA cyber hygiene services can cover part of the vulnerability scanning. We are not an audit firm and do not issue certifications, so the register is built to hand to your auditor.
We deliver consulting engagements across Houston, Dallas, Fort Worth, and San Antonio, and statewide for multi-site clients. On-site discovery is included in metro engagements.
We Understand Your Technology Challenges
