On-site IT support in Collin County means a technician drives to your office when a problem needs hands, and from North Dallas that drive takes 17 to 52 minutes before traffic, depending on the city. Answering your call is a separate clock. It’s also the faster one.
Buyers in Plano, Frisco, and McKinney often ask us the same thing in a first meeting. Do you have people near me? Fair question. The real answer depends on your address more than on anybody’s sales pitch. This post covers the geography side of our guide to managed IT services in Collin County. We measured drive times from our Dallas office to 13 points across the county, then from stand-in addresses in Plano and Frisco to the same places. After that we checked the state’s congestion data for the roads in between. Some results flattered us. Some didn’t.
Uprite’s Dallas office at 5757 Alpha Road is in Dallas County, just north of LBJ Freeway, and we don’t have an office in Collin County. Free-flow routing puts Plano City Hall 17 minutes away and Farmersville 52. A provider based near Plano’s city hall is closer than we are to 9 of the 11 other points we checked, and about 9 minutes closer on average. A Frisco address averages about 5 minutes closer than we are, though it’s farther from Allen, Murphy, and Wylie. Our average first response is about 5 minutes, a measured number rather than a contract term. Arrival is separate. Fully Managed IT is the plan that includes on-site work.
What Does On-Site IT Support in Collin County Actually Cover?
On-site IT support is the part of a managed IT agreement where a technician physically comes to your building. It covers the jobs a remote session can’t do, like replacing failed hardware, running or re-terminating cable, swapping a firewall, or setting up a new suite. In Collin County it also means a drive up the Dallas North Tollway, US 75, or SH 121.
People mix up 2 clocks here. The first response is how quickly a person picks up your ticket. Arrival is how quickly someone walks through your door. A provider can be fast at one and slow at the other, and a contract that only measures the first tells you nothing about the second. Our post on how IT support response times work in Dallas covers the ticket clock and the difference between responding and resolving. This post covers the car.
How Long Is the Drive From North Dallas to Collin County Cities?
We ran the routes on October 26, 2026, with the public Open Source Routing Machine, which plans trips over OpenStreetMap road data. Every trip starts at our office on Alpha Road. Each one ends at a city or town hall, or at the county courthouse in McKinney, so every place gets the same kind of reference point instead of whichever office park sounds best. OSRM assumes empty roads. Picture 2 a.m. on a weeknight, not 8 a.m. on a Tuesday.

| Destination (Collin County) | Free-flow drive from 5757 Alpha Rd | Road distance |
|---|---|---|
| Plano City Hall | 17 minutes | 11.5 miles |
| Frisco City Hall | 22 minutes | 16.9 miles |
| Allen City Hall | 22 minutes | 17.1 miles |
| Murphy City Hall | 26 minutes | 16.3 miles |
| Prosper Town Hall | 28 minutes | 23.6 miles |
| Wylie City Hall (street-level point on Country Club Road) | 31 minutes | 19.5 miles |
| McKinney City Hall | 32 minutes | 24.8 miles |
| Collin County Courthouse, McKinney | 34 minutes | 27.4 miles |
| Melissa City Hall | 39 minutes | 32.3 miles |
| Celina City Hall | 40 minutes | 30.8 miles |
| Princeton City Hall | 43 minutes | 33.3 miles |
| Anna City Hall | 45 minutes | 36.2 miles |
| Farmersville City Hall | 52 minutes | 40.7 miles |
Collin County covers about 841 square miles of land, according to the Census Bureau’s 2024 Gazetteer files. It’s bigger than it feels. Plano City Hall is 17 minutes. Farmersville is 52. So there’s a 3-to-1 spread inside a single county line, and a provider that quotes one “Collin County response time” is averaging away the part you care about, which is the drive to your own door.
The highways explain the pattern. Plano, Frisco, and Allen sit on the Tollway or US 75 and come in at 22 minutes or less. Past US 380, and east of Lavon Lake, there are simply more miles to cover. Farmersville is 40.7 road miles out. The slowest trips per mile turn out to be Murphy and Wylie, south of the lake, at roughly 37 miles an hour on the routing.
Is a Plano or Frisco MSP Closer Than a Dallas One?
Often, yes. We reran the same routing from Plano City Hall and from Frisco City Hall, standing in for a provider with an office in each city, to the 11 Collin County points that aren’t one of those 2 city halls.
| Destination | From Alpha Rd, Dallas | From Plano City Hall | From Frisco City Hall |
|---|---|---|---|
| Allen City Hall | 22 min | 11 min | 24 min |
| Murphy City Hall | 26 min | 13 min | 35 min |
| Prosper Town Hall | 28 min | 34 min | 10 min |
| Wylie City Hall | 31 min | 18 min | 39 min |
| McKinney City Hall | 32 min | 21 min | 27 min |
| Collin County Courthouse | 34 min | 23 min | 28 min |
| Melissa City Hall | 39 min | 28 min | 33 min |
| Celina City Hall | 40 min | 45 min | 22 min |
| Princeton City Hall | 43 min | 31 min | 36 min |
| Anna City Hall | 45 min | 34 min | 39 min |
| Farmersville City Hall | 52 min | 40 min | 45 min |
| Average of the 11 | 36 min | 27 min | 31 min |

Plano wins this one. A provider near Plano’s municipal center is closer than we are to 9 of these 11 points, usually by 11 to 13 minutes. We’re not going to pretend otherwise. Prosper and Celina favor us.
Frisco lands in the middle. An office there averages about 5 minutes closer than we are and wins 8 of the 11 trips, with Prosper at just 10 minutes. It loses 3 trips, though. Those are Allen, Murphy, and Wylie, and Wylie is 39 minutes away against our 31. The word “local” on a website describes an address. It doesn’t describe a radius. Our page on managed IT services in Frisco breaks the drive down further, to The Star and the north end of the city.
And none of these tables knows where the technician is when your switch dies. Technicians move around all day. Someone who started the day at a client in Richardson isn’t leaving from any office at all. That’s why the useful question is about your address, not the provider’s.
What Does Rush Hour Do to a Collin County Drive?
It makes our table optimistic. The state’s own data shows where. Every year TxDOT and the Texas A&M Transportation Institute publish the 100 most congested road segments in Texas, ranked by the hours of delay drivers lose on each mile, out of more than 2,100 segments they measure. In the 2025 list, exactly 1 segment is in Collin County. It’s US 75 between the Bush Turnpike and the Legacy Drive exit in Plano, ranked 30th in the state after placing 52nd the year before.
| Road segment (2025 list, all vehicles) | County | Statewide rank | Yearly delay per mile, person-hours |
|---|---|---|---|
| US 75, Bush Turnpike to Legacy Drive exit | Collin | 30 | 448,641 |
| US 75, LBJ Freeway to Bush Turnpike | Dallas | 33 | 431,045 |
| Dallas North Tollway, LBJ Freeway to Bush Turnpike | Dallas | 58 | 264,929 |
All 3 of those stretches sit on the usual routes north from Alpha Road. Our office is just north of LBJ, between the Tollway and US 75, so a technician heading for Plano or Allen can hardly avoid at least one of them on the way out. The list doesn’t split traffic by direction, which means it can’t say whether a northbound run at 8 a.m. is better or worse than the southbound commute. Treat it as a warning. Not a forecast.
The north end of the county is about to change, too. The North Texas Tollway Authority is extending the Dallas North Tollway 13.7 miles north of US 380, and it lists Phase 4A, from US 380 to FM 428, as opening in late 2027, according to its project page. Phase 4B, up to the Grayson County line, has no date yet. When the new lanes carry traffic, the Celina number in our table ought to come down. We’ll rerun it then.
How Does Dispatch Work When a Collin County Ticket Comes In?
A ticket from a Frisco or McKinney office moves through 5 steps, and only the last one involves a car.
- Someone picks up. It’s a technician, not a dispatcher, and across all clients our first response averages about 5 minutes, which is a number we measure rather than one we write into contracts or quote as a guarantee.
- They try the fix remotely. Password lockouts, broken Outlook profiles, VPN errors, and stuck print queues all close faster from a desk than from the Tollway.
- If hardware has died, say a switch, a cable somebody cut during a remodel, or a laptop that won’t boot, the ticket turns into a visit on the schedule.
- The visit gets planned. 1 trip should close it. That might mean bringing a replacement that’s already configured, a copy of the firewall settings, or just a spare patch cable.
- Then the car leaves North Dallas. How long it takes depends on the tables above, and on whether that engineer has to finish a job somewhere else first.
Steps 3 and 4 decide whether a drive pays off or gets wasted. A dead laptop in Allen may not need a person at all. It needs a replacement. With Windows Autopilot, Microsoft says the only thing a user has to do with a new PC is connect it to a network and verify their credentials. So a configured replacement could ship by courier while the dead one comes back. A failed switch is a different animal. Somebody has to rack it.

Our Dallas engineers include the team from Trif Technologies, a North Dallas IT firm founded at the same Alpha Road address in 2000, which joined Uprite in August 2026 and kept its engineers on their existing accounts. Their longtime clients sit mostly along the Tollway, in Richardson, Addison, Plano, and Frisco. That corridor is where our on-site coverage runs deepest today. We cover the rest too. Celina and Farmersville are just longer drives, and it’s better to hear that from us now than to find it out during your first real outage on a Monday morning.
Which Uprite Plans Include On-Site Visits?
Fully Managed IT is the one with on-site work built in. Our published pricing page lists it beside 4 other plans. Of the 3 core managed plans, IT Pro and IT Essentials are remote only.
| Plan | Starts at, per user per month | On-site work | Built for, per the pricing page |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fully Managed IT | $138 | Included, as on-site and cloud infrastructure management | Businesses that want a complete IT department replacement |
| IT Pro | $110 | Remote only | Teams of 12 or more outside the Houston and San Antonio areas |
| IT Essentials | $91 | Remote only, with business-hours support capped at 8 hours per user each month | Teams under 12 with basic needs and Microsoft-native tools |
| Co-Managed IT Partnership | $100 | Not listed as included | Internal IT teams that need support, coverage, and executive strategy |
| MSSP Security Focus | $40 | Not listed as included | Internal IT teams that need firewall, SIEM, and SOC coverage |
The pricing page also says the other plans are remote-first but can be upgraded to include on-site services as needed. We don’t publish a price for that upgrade. Ask for it in writing. IT Pro was built for teams outside our Houston and San Antonio territory that run mostly in the cloud. If your office lives in Microsoft 365, on laptops, and on a hosted phone system, a remote plan may be all you need. If you own a server closet, a remote plan saves money right up until the day something in that closet fails. Then it needs hands. Our breakdown of what managed IT costs in Collin County runs the seat-count math.
What Should You Pin Down About On-Site Timing for Your Address?
Start with the drive-time table. The questions change by band.
| Drive from Alpha Rd | Cities in our table | Free-flow minutes | What to pin down |
|---|---|---|---|
| Under 30 minutes | Plano, Frisco, Allen, Murphy, Prosper | 17 to 28 | Whether the arrival estimate assumes rush hour on US 75 or the Tollway, and whether a remote fix gets tried before anyone drives |
| 30 to 35 minutes | Wylie, McKinney, the courthouse area | 31 to 34 | Whether parts and replacements are staged before the drive, so 1 trip closes the ticket |
| Over 35 minutes | Melissa, Celina, Princeton, Anna, Farmersville | 39 to 52 | Whether a spare switch or laptop should live at your office, and what a night or weekend visit costs |
Then ask every provider, us included, to write the arrival terms for your address into the agreement as arrival, not as response. We don’t publish a Collin County arrival time. Addresses vary too much. The number moves with your exact street and the hour of the day, so during the assessment we run your address and tell you what on-site timing looks like for that street.
Moving into the county rather than already here? The order changes. Our IT plan for relocating to Collin County covers carrier lead times and the first day in a new building. McKinney offices with a plant floor or defense work have their own considerations, which our page on managed IT services in McKinney walks through.
What Collin County Offices Ask About On-Site IT Support
Where do Uprite technicians drive from for Collin County?
Uprite technicians drive in from 5757 Alpha Rd, Suite 530, in North Dallas, because Uprite doesn’t have an office in Collin County. That office sits in Dallas County just north of LBJ Freeway, about 17 minutes from Plano City Hall and 32 from McKinney City Hall before traffic.
How long does it take a technician to reach a Frisco or McKinney office?
Plan on 22 to 34 minutes from our office on clear roads, based on OSRM routing to Frisco City Hall, McKinney City Hall, and the Collin County Courthouse. Rush hour on US 75 and the Dallas North Tollway adds time. Ask for an arrival estimate built on your exact address. Traffic varies by hour.
Is a 5-minute response the same as a technician in 5 minutes?
A 5-minute response isn’t a 5-minute arrival. Our figure is the average time until a technician first responds to a ticket, measured across all clients, and it isn’t a contractual guarantee. Arrival is a different clock that depends on distance, traffic, and whether the problem can be fixed remotely first. Ask about both.
Which Uprite plan includes on-site visits in Collin County?
Fully Managed IT includes on-site visits, starting at $138 per user per month with on-site and cloud infrastructure management. IT Pro at $110 and IT Essentials at $91 are remote only. Our pricing page says remote-first plans can be upgraded to include on-site services as needed.
Do you cover Celina, Anna, Princeton, and Farmersville?
Celina, Anna, Princeton, and Farmersville are inside our Collin County coverage, though they’re the longest drives on our map. Free-flow routing from Alpha Road puts Celina at 40 minutes, Princeton at 43, Anna at 45, and Farmersville at 52, so offices up there should think about keeping a spare switch or laptop on site.
Will the Dallas North Tollway extension shorten drives to Celina?
The extension should shorten Celina trips once it opens. NTTA lists Phase 4A of the Dallas North Tollway extension, from US 380 to FM 428, as opening in late 2027, and Phase 4B to the Grayson County line doesn’t have a date yet. We plan to rerun our routing when the new lanes carry traffic.
Can a remote-only plan work for a Plano office?
A remote-only plan can work for a Plano office if your systems live in Microsoft 365 and the cloud and nobody on site owns a server, firewall, or wiring closet. IT Pro covers teams of 12 or more remotely with 24/7 support. Once you own network hardware, a failed switch needs hands. That means a visit.
Where Should a Collin County Office Start?
With your own address. We support Collin County offices from 5757 Alpha Rd in North Dallas, the same office behind our managed IT services in Dallas, and the Dallas help desk line is (469) 699-8767, listed on our contact page. If a technician’s drive matters to your decision, check it before you compare quotes. Ask early.
Send us your address and the equipment that would need hands, and we’ll tell you which plan fits and what on-site timing looks like for your office before you sign anything.
