3CX Phone Systems, Installed and Supported Across Texas

3CX is a unified communications platform that carries calls, video, live chat, WhatsApp, Facebook and SMS on one system, licensed by simultaneous call rather than per user. Uprite Services is a 3CX Platinum Partner with Advanced Certification. We size the license, build the call flow, port the numbers, train your staff, and support the platform after go live.

Most phone quotes sell you seats. 3CX charges for the calls you actually make at once, which is why the math changes for companies with more staff than simultaneous conversations.

The Credential

What a 3CX Platinum Partner With Advanced Certification Actually Is

Every reseller says they are a 3CX partner. The word on its own carries almost no information, because 3CX will register anyone who signs up and passes the entry exam. What separates one partner from the next is the tier, and the tier is not a badge you buy.

3CX runs a laddered channel program. A new reseller starts as a Partner in Training. From there the tiers run Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, and Titanium. Movement up the ladder depends on two things, and only two things. Sustained annual sales volume, and the certification level your engineers hold.

TierCertification requiredWhat it signals
Partner in TrainingNone yetSigned up, no track record
BronzeBasicEntry level, passed the basic exam
SilverAdvancedEngineers hold the advanced qualification
GoldAdvancedMeaningful install base
Platinum (Uprite)AdvancedSustained volume, dedicated 3CX account manager, priority unlimited support escalation
TitaniumAdvancedHighest volume band in the program

Uprite sits at Platinum with Advanced Certification. We are straight about what that means. Titanium sits above Platinum in the program, so we are not the top band and we will not claim to be. What Platinum does buy you is concrete. Our engineers hold the Advanced certification rather than the entry level one. We have a named account manager inside 3CX. When a ticket needs to leave our hands and land with the vendor, it goes into a priority, unlimited support queue instead of a general one.

The practical version. A Bronze partner reading the same documentation you could read files a standard ticket and waits. Our escalation path is a person we already know, on a queue with no annual cap on it. That difference tends to matter on exactly one kind of afternoon, and you cannot schedule which one.

We also run 3CX on not for resale licenses in our own lab. New releases get installed and broken there before they go anywhere near a client system. That is a partner program benefit most buyers never hear about, and it is the reason we can tell you whether a specific release is safe for your call flow rather than guessing.

The Platform

What 3CX Is, in Plain Terms

3CX is a software PBX. It replaces the phone system in your comms cupboard, or the per seat cloud service you rent, with one platform that handles voice, video meetings, website live chat, WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, and business SMS through a single interface. The company has been building it since 2005 and it runs in more than 350,000 businesses worldwide.

Three design decisions make it behave differently from most of what it competes against, and they are worth understanding before you look at a feature list.

It is licensed by simultaneous call, not by user

This is the one that changes budgets. Most hosted phone services bill per seat per month. 3CX bills for the number of calls you can have running at the same time. A 60 person company where 12 people are ever on the phone at once pays for the 12, not the 60. Warehouses, workshops, field teams and clinics tend to have a wide gap between headcount and concurrent calls, and that gap is where the saving lives.

You keep your numbers and your carrier

It is a standards based SIP platform. You bring your own SIP trunk provider, keep your existing numbers, and use standard SIP desk phones rather than handsets locked to one vendor. If you want to change carrier in two years you change carrier, you do not change phone system.

You choose where it runs

The same product runs on a server in your building, in your own cloud account, on a hypervisor you already own, or hosted by 3CX. That matters for anyone with a compliance position on where call recordings and voice traffic are allowed to sit. Video meeting data stays on your own 3CX instance rather than passing through a third party service.

Apps and Features

What Your Team Gets on Day One

Everything below is included in the platform rather than sold as a bolt on. That is the second half of the 3CX cost story. There is no separate license for the video product, no per agent fee for the contact center, and no upcharge to add a messaging channel.

Web, desktop and mobile apps

One extension follows a person across a browser, a Windows or Mac desktop app, and iOS or Android. No VPN. The apps also drive a desk phone remotely if somebody prefers a handset. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are supported for staff who spend the day driving.

Video conferencing

Built in, up to 250 participants, no time limit and no per host license. Joining is a browser link with no download. Screen share, whiteboard, polls, recording and dial in by phone are all part of it.

Live chat, WhatsApp, Facebook and SMS

Website chat, WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger and business SMS land in the same queue as calls. Staff answer from a business identity, so nobody hands out a personal mobile number, and every message is logged for review.

Contact center

Queues, IVR, skills based and round robin routing, callback, and a live wallboard. Supervisors get Listen In, Whisper and Barge In on active calls, plus call recording for quality review and training.

CRM and Microsoft 365 integration

Caller ID lookup against Salesforce, HubSpot, Zoho, Dynamics, Freshdesk and others, click to call from the record, and automatic call journaling. Microsoft 365 syncs users, contacts, calendars and Teams presence.

AI call analytics

Sentiment scoring by call, agent, queue and ring group, automatic call summaries, and voicemail and call transcription. You can point transcription at Google, at OpenAI, or at the engine on your own server if the data must not leave.

Call Flow Designer

A visual builder for the routing logic most systems cannot express. Authentication before routing, callback scheduling, phone ordering, surveys, and automated speech in 120 languages, without writing code.

Security and uptime

SRTP encryption on voice, an encrypted tunnel for app traffic, HTTPS on the web interface, automatic SSL renewal, SIP attack detection, a global IP blocklist, and built in failover. 3CX holds an A+ Qualys rating on the web server.

The Money

Where the Savings Actually Come From

Vendors quote savings percentages that nobody can reproduce. Here are the four mechanisms that produce the number, so you can work out whether they apply to you rather than taking a figure on trust.

  • Concurrent call licensing. You buy simultaneous calls, not seats. The wider the gap between your headcount and your busiest hour of real conversations, the larger this saving is. A company where everybody is on the phone all day saves the least.
  • Internal calls cost nothing. Calls between staff, between branches, and out to remote workers run over the platform. Multi site businesses that still pay for inter office calling see this immediately.
  • You choose the SIP trunk. Call rates come from a carrier you select and can change. You are not buying minutes from the same company that sold you the phone system, which is what keeps the rate honest.
  • Features are not upsells. Video, chat, mobile apps, the contact center and the reporting are in the license. Systems that charge separately for each of those are where quotes quietly double in year two.

What we will not do is put a savings percentage on this page and hope you believe it. Send us one recent phone bill and the number of people who are genuinely on calls at the same time. We will model the 3CX license against what you pay now and show you the arithmetic, including the cases where switching is not worth it.

Deployment

Four Ways to Run 3CX, and How to Pick

The software is identical in all four. What changes is who owns the infrastructure and who answers when it stops working at 4pm on a Friday.

ModelWho runs the serverBest fit
On premiseYou, on hardware in your buildingSites with a compliance position on voice data staying in the building, or existing server capacity worth using
Your own cloudYou, in your Azure or AWS accountBusinesses with cloud infrastructure and staff who already run it
Hosted by 3CX3CXSmall teams that want the hardware question to go away and have someone in house to handle configuration
Managed by UpriteUprite, on infrastructure we run and monitorBusinesses that want one company accountable for the platform, the configuration, the carrier and the support

It also runs on Hyper-V, VMware and KVM if you are consolidating onto virtualization you already pay for. Most of the Texas businesses we talk to start out certain they want one model and change their mind once they see who carries the pager in each one.

What We Do

Setup, Migration, Configuration, Training and Support

Buying a 3CX license is the easy part and anyone can sell you one. The work that decides whether the system is any good happens in the five stages below. This is the part we are actually paid for.

Setup and deployment

We start by sizing the license against real concurrency rather than headcount, because guessing high is the most common way businesses overpay for 3CX. Then we stand up the instance in whichever of the four models you picked, provision the SIP trunk, configure the firewall and QoS so voice traffic gets priority on your network, and provision handsets and softphones. Desk phones are auto provisioned rather than configured one at a time.

Migration and number porting

Porting is the step that frightens people, and it is the step with the least room for improvisation. We inventory every number you own, including the ones nobody has thought about in years such as the fax line, the alarm line and the lift phone. Ports are submitted with the losing carrier, dates are confirmed in writing, and the new system runs in parallel with the old one until the port completes. Nothing gets switched off on a promise.

Configuration

This is where the system stops being generic. Call flows, business hours, holiday routing, the IVR, ring groups and queues get built around how your business actually answers the phone. We wire up the CRM so a caller record opens before anyone says hello, connect Microsoft 365 for users and presence, and configure the messaging channels you want live. Complex routing goes through the Call Flow Designer rather than being approximated with a chain of forwards.

Training

Two audiences, two sessions, because they need different things. End users get a short practical session on the apps, transfers, queues and voicemail, run close to go live so it is still fresh. Administrators get a longer session on adding and removing users, changing hours and holiday routing, pulling reports, and handling the small changes themselves rather than raising a ticket for every new starter. Recordings and a written quick reference go to you afterwards.

Ongoing support and management

After go live we monitor the platform, apply and test updates, hold the relationship with the SIP carrier so trunk faults are our problem rather than yours, and handle moves, adds and changes. Where a fault genuinely sits inside the 3CX product, our Platinum status puts it into a priority escalation queue with a named account manager rather than a general support line. You call one number for the phone system, the network it runs on, and the carrier behind it.

Uprite engineers supporting a 3CX phone system deployment

If you already run 3CX and inherited it from a partner who has gone quiet, we take over existing installations. That starts with an audit of the license, the version, the call flow and the security configuration, and an honest report on what we find, including the cases where the previous build was fine and needs nothing.

The Cutover

How a 3CX Migration Actually Runs

The fear is a Monday morning where the phones do not ring and nobody knows why. Here is the sequence we use to make that a non event.

StageWhat happensTypical duration
1. DiscoveryNumber inventory, current bill analysis, concurrency measurement, call flow mapping, network and bandwidth check3 to 5 days
2. DesignLicense sizing, deployment model, call flow and IVR design signed off by you in writing before anything is built2 to 4 days
3. BuildInstance stood up, SIP trunk provisioned, call flows built, CRM and Microsoft 365 connected, handsets provisioned1 to 2 weeks
4. Parallel runNew system live on temporary numbers alongside the old one. Test calls, queue tests, failover tests3 to 7 days
5. TrainingEnd user and administrator sessions delivered close to cutover2 sessions
6. Port and cutoverNumbers port on a confirmed date. Old system stays reachable until the port is verified completePort date dependent
7. HypercareEngineer attention on the account for the first two weeks, then into normal support2 weeks

Most migrations for a single site business run four to six weeks end to end, and the long pole is almost always the carrier port date rather than anything technical. Multi site and contact center builds take longer because the call flow design deserves more argument.

Honest Fit Check

Who 3CX Suits, and Who Should Look Elsewhere

Worth a conversation

Businesses with more staff than simultaneous calls. Multi site operations still paying for inter office calling. Anyone on a PBX approaching end of support, or on copper lines being retired. Teams that want voice, video and messaging in one place instead of four subscriptions. Companies with a compliance reason to keep voice data on infrastructure they control. Contact centers that cannot justify per agent pricing.

Probably not us

Businesses under about ten people with simple needs, where a basic hosted service is cheaper and the flexibility goes unused. Organizations already deep into a Teams Phone deployment that meets their needs. Anyone who wants a phone system nobody ever configures or maintains, since 3CX rewards being set up properly. Companies wanting the cheapest possible per month number with no interest in what happens when it breaks.

We would rather tell you 3CX is the wrong fit during a discovery call than sell you a platform you resent in eighteen months. If your requirements point somewhere else, we will say so, and we support the alternatives through our wider managed phone services practice.

Hector and Kareem are super helpful! They are always willing to take on my computer problems even if its small. I had my mouse disappear off my screen, it was an user issue but Hector didn't make me feel small or "dumb" for this error. We love uprite!

I had been having trouble with an IT matter that I didn't think would be fixed but Arvin Ebueng from Upright took his time with me and worked with me until we were able to resolve the issue. The issue was an internal issue with the way the program was written, but Arvin came up with a great work around so that I am now able to do what I need to do at my job. Long story short, he got me access to both things that I need access to simultaneously and daily. Thanks 😊 Arvin, you are much appreciated 👏 💐 🥳.

FAQ

Common Questions About 3CX Phone Systems

How much does a 3CX phone system cost in Texas?

3CX licensing is based on the number of simultaneous calls your business can run, not the number of employees, so two companies with the same headcount can pay very different amounts. The license itself is an annual cost, and on top of that you pay for SIP trunk service from a carrier you choose, plus any handsets and the setup and support from your partner. A business where 12 people are on the phone at once pays for 12 concurrent calls whether it employs 40 people or 400. Send us a recent phone bill and we will model the total against what you pay now.

What does it mean that Uprite is a 3CX Platinum Partner?

3CX tiers its partners as Partner in Training, Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum and Titanium, based on sustained annual sales volume and the certification level the partner’s engineers hold. Uprite sits at Platinum and our engineers hold the Advanced certification rather than the entry level Basic one. Platinum brings a named 3CX account manager and priority, uncapped support escalation directly to the vendor. Titanium sits above Platinum in the program, so Platinum is not the top tier and we do not claim it is.

Can I keep my existing phone numbers when moving to 3CX?

Yes. Numbers are ported from your current carrier to the SIP trunk provider used with 3CX, and you keep them permanently. We inventory every number first, including ones that are easy to forget such as fax lines, alarm lines and lift phones. The new system runs in parallel with the old one on temporary numbers until each port is confirmed complete, so there is no window where calls to your main number go unanswered.

Do I have to host 3CX in the cloud?

No. The same 3CX software runs on a server in your own building, inside your own Azure or AWS account, on Hyper-V, VMware or KVM, hosted by 3CX, or managed by Uprite on infrastructure we run. Businesses with a compliance requirement to keep voice traffic and call recordings on infrastructure they control usually pick on premise or their own cloud. The feature set does not change between models.

Does 3CX work for staff who are not at a desk?

That is one of its stronger cases. The same extension works through iOS and Android apps, a desktop app on Windows or Mac, and any browser, without a VPN. Field staff make and take calls on the company number from a phone they already carry, so customers never receive a personal mobile number. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are supported for hands free use while driving.

Is video conferencing an extra cost with 3CX?

No. Video conferencing is included in the platform with no separate license and no per host fee. Meetings support up to 250 participants with no time limit, participants join from a browser link without installing anything, and screen sharing, whiteboard, polls and recording are all included. Meeting data stays on your own 3CX instance rather than passing through a third party service.

How long does a 3CX migration take?

A single site business typically runs four to six weeks from discovery to cutover. The technical build is rarely the constraint. The carrier port date usually sets the timeline, and that is outside any partner’s control. Multi site deployments and contact center builds take longer, mostly because the call flow design needs more discussion before it is signed off.

Can Uprite take over a 3CX system another partner installed?

Yes, and it is a common request when a previous partner stops responding. We start with an audit covering the license and its renewal date, the version and patch level, the call flow configuration, and the security setup. You get a written report on what we find before any work is agreed, including the cases where the existing build is sound and needs nothing more than ongoing support.
